Packers and movers quote scope: what should be written down
A household shifting quote should be more than one total number. Ask for a dated written scope so every provider is being compared on the same work.
| Quote area | What to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Inventory | Room count, furniture, appliances, carton estimate, fragile goods and bulky items. | Volume and handling effort influence labour, packing and vehicle needs. |
| Packing | Owner-packed, standard packing, fragile packing, wooden crating if required and packing-material responsibility. | Two quotes can look similar while including very different packing levels. |
| Building access | Floor, lift, stairs, parking distance, society gate rules and loading time limits at both ends. | Access can change labour, waiting time and carrying effort. |
| Transport | Route, vehicle type, shared or dedicated movement if applicable, pickup window and delivery handover process. | Transport-only and door-to-door household relocation are different scopes. |
| Protection | Whether transit protection is included, optional or unavailable; ask for written terms, exclusions and claim steps. | Do not rely on verbal wording about insurance or damage responsibility. |
| Payment | Final payable amount, taxes if applicable, invoice identity, beneficiary name, receipt and cancellation terms. | Traceable records matter if a dispute or damage claim arises. |
